Section B will lead you through a point-by-point analysis of the passage in the resource booklet’s argument.

First you will be asked to identify the conclusion of the passage; then to identify the reasons given in support of it.

Most of this section, however, will consist of specific questions about the adequacy or significance of specific sections of the argument. To perform well on this, you’ll need to common sense, imagination, and a good working knowledge of the logical fallacies.

Unfortunately, unlike the Unit 1 exam, this section of the paper can’t be predicted, so more specific advice is difficult to give. The best preparation for this section of the exam is to look at past papers, which your school or college will no doubt provide for you.
