Q8d Weight of Evidence
Having assessed the balance of evidence, you will then be asked to assess the weight of evidence. This question is worth 2 marks, and is very easy indeed.
Question Format
“Explain the weight of evidence.”
Strategy
This is really simple. The weight of evidence concerns which side of the dispute has more sources. It is a purely numerical judgement. Don’t take into account the quality of the sources; just count them!
To get both of the marks for this question, you need to do two things: say which side has more sources, and say how many sources are on each side.
Make sure that the numbers that you give in the second part of your answer accurately reflect the diagram that you gave for Question 8c.
Sample Answer
“There are more sources who say that Jesus did rise bodily from the dead: 4 say he did, 3 say he didn’t.”
