Q2 Images as Evidence
The second question in the exam is likely to refer to images contained within the documents in the resource booklet. It is a little difficult to predict what Question 2 will require of you. You may be asked to assess the value of certain images as evidence, but you may be asked to do something else, so read the question carefully!
Question Format
If you’re asked to assess the value of specified images as evidence, then you will be given a specific claim that those images might be intended to support. The question would then be phrased something like: “Consider photo P. It may be intended to support [claim]. Explain four weaknesses in that support.” Alternatively, you may be asked something like, “Explain how photo P could be used to support [claim],” in which case the advice below doesn’t apply.
Strategy
If you’re asked to assess the value of specified images as evidence, then you should approach the question with three further criteria of credibility in mind: relevance, significance, and selectivity.
