Section A
Section A is the most general section of the exam paper. It is likely to consist of three questions.
Question 1
Question 1 will ask you about the general context of the dispute described in the resource booklet. This question asks you to consider how the criteria of credibility apply to a particular type of situation; you shouldn’t refer to specific details of the documents in the resource booklet in answering the question. In fact, it should be possible to answer it without looking at the resource booklet at all.
Question 2
Question 2 will ask you about the use of images as evidence. At least some of the documents in the resource booklet will contain images. You might be asked how these could be used to support a position, or you might be asked to criticise their use to support a given position.
Question 3
Question 3 will ask you to consider each of the documents in the resource booklet in turn, and assess their credibility as a whole. This does not mean assessing the individual witnesses contained within the documents; you need to consider each document in its entirety, looking for ways in which it meets or fails to meet the criteria of credibility.
